Seeking life wherever it is expressed.

Understanding Organic Church

Organic Church – The Roots of Expressing Divine Life in Human Formtree-with-spiritual-roots

Organic Church is a term being used by Christians for gatherings of people who have decided to meet outside of Organized or Institutional Church setting. I think it is becoming clearer and clearer to many as we approach the end of this age that change is happening in almost all of this planets institutions. Weather it be in government, education, religion and even the families – The way we have organized, prioritized and gotten things done is not working for us anymore. The desire for `real change’ is overwhelming this planet and nothing and no one is going to stop the change that is coming. Change is the word that is bring used right now to describe the “space in-between.” What I mean by space in-between is the ending or death of the old and birth of the new.

The kind of change most leaders like is one of reform – changes but not one that effect the core – improvements to the existing. When Jesus Christ walked this earth change was already in the air. The whole time Jesus walked this earth none of his disciples ever really understood the change that He was bringing was not one of restoration – The restoring of Israel and Judaism to its glory days – The type of Change that Jesus brought and was introducing, was an end to the Law and way that had been – a death of all that was and a birth unto a the New Way of life in the Spirit – a life He modeled by following and living by the Word of God described by Jesus as the “will of my Father.” The source of everything Jesus did all the visible actions of Jesus, were the Father.

John 14: 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? (NASB)

Jesus was letting Philip know that everything He did was through the will of the Father.

John 5:30″I can do nothing on My own initiative As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. (NASB)

Jesus life on earth was not a demonstration or a visible expression of Jesus but a visible expression of the Father and His Work on earth. This is why when we go back and look at the story of Moses and his striking of the Rock – the result was that Moses was not allowed to go into the land. Moses was standing as God before the people and he mis-represent God (in his frustration) before Israel.

Remember, It is the Father who so loved the world that He sent Jesus to display the love of the Father.

John 4: 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work. (NASB)

As physical beings with bodies we end up displaying the kind of food we take in. The same is true of spiritual food. Jesus spiritual food was “the doing of His Fathers will”. Jesus was spiritually nourished in the act of doing what His Father wanted Him to do. Today to often spiritual food has come down to agreeing with God – A mental activity only. Who has the latest and greatest teaching about this or that. Have you ever heard someone come back from a church meeting and talk about how they were spiritually fed. My question would be “what exactly did you do?” Is God’s will for us to sit and listen for 45 min a week to someone preach or do we give thanks to God in praise and worship for 30 min? Is this how we receive our spiritual food? If this is true then what is the difference between our spiritual food and the spiritual food that Jesus was partaking of.

Spiritual Organic food or Spiritual Processed food?

 What is the difference?

Spiritual Processed Food – Processed food is just that – It is food that has been prepared for you by someone else. Babies always start off with processed food – that is what Milk is. Food the mother has eaten and then through her body it has been processed into milk for her baby. This is true of spiritual babies as well. Until a person is able to hear and recognize the voice of God they depend on the voice of men to lead and guide them. In Moses time the children of Israel because of fear rejected meeting with God face to face and instead choose to drink the milk that came from Moses. Moses was the spiritual Mother of Israel because the people refused to have a relationship with their Father.

Spiritual Organic Food – Organic food is that which is natural and not tainted with man’s ideas and shortcuts. Organic food is that which is grown by natural means. Spiritual Organic food is that which comes by means of the spirit and not through man’s thinking. Have you ever seen Organic vegetables and fruit compared to our chemically treated vegetables and fruit? The chemically treated ones look a whole lot better than the organic ones. The human mind is really good at fooling itself – it knows that it will judge based on what it sees more than it will judge based on what is. The eye cannot distinguish between the things of the spirit and the things of the flesh.

Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

The Spirit has a knowing that is beyond our intellect. It is only by the internal eyes and ears of the spirit that we can see and hear the Father. It is only in our ability to see and hear the Father that we can do his will and be spiritually fed. No man can keep you from hearing your Father – No man needs to be called a teacher of God’s will anymore. Your teacher abides in you – it is in the hearing of Him that you will know and be able to do the Father’s will and be spiritually fed.

1John 2:27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. (NASB)

Here we see Paul encouraging the saints in Colossae to listen to their Father’s voice and not the laws and doctrines being taught in His name. Its about hearing His voice not about following laws.

Col.2:18-22 Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God. If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)–in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? (This is men trying to teach you God’s will through their doctrines – this is a self made religion) These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.

If we don’t need preachers or teachers to teach us God’s will then what is the purpose of Pastors or leaders or even an Organic Church?

An organic church is not a gathering of leaders and followers it is a getting together of brothers and sisters – family. Are their leaders, sure, and spiritual leaders lead the same way John the Baptist and Jesus did. John the Baptist simply pointed his disciples and the people to Jesus. John was their in the waters of Baptism burying their old way of living, raising them up into new life and pointing them to follow Jesus. John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! Jesus walked and talked with His disciples showing them the Father and teaching them to hear His voice.

Here he is with Peter helping Him understand who He was hearing from. Matt.16:17 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

This is what Organic Church is – Walking together with Jesus just like they did when he walked this earth in the flesh. The Organic church is a group of people that gather together as they follow Him – it is not an institution, not a club and not God’s eternal purpose. The Organic church is a place for babies and children who are disciples growing and getting to know the voice of the Father until they can stand as a Son.  Its not simply a place to be come and fed processed food it is a place where you can be taught how to feed yourself by hearing your Father’s voice and then doing the will of your Father.

A minister in an Organic fellowship will be one who follows the example of John the Baptist who said:

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. – The words of John the Baptist and every minister that follows in his footsteps.

If a man with doctrines is your teacher you can expect to express doctrine life and if the Spirit is your teacher you can expect to express spirit life.

Lk.6:39-40 And He also spoke a parable to them: “A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?

A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.

Here is a description of a disciple of Jesus who together with others is learning to hear that still small voice of the Father within –

Ps.1:3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.

The roots of this tree do not dig deep and make their home in this earth but in heaven.  The stream is not of this earth but is the stream that flows from the throne of God. The fruit that this tree yields though visible on this earth is fruit from an unseen source. This fruit is the invisible made visible this is the will of God, this is our spiritual food.
